Laylatul Henna – Protection & Prosperity
Join us on September 20, 2025, for our South Sudanese henna party. Our bridal party will make a grand entrance with speeches, music, dancing, and delicious Sudanese food shared with close family and friends.
Henna will plays a symbolic role. These designs—typically drawn on the hands and feet—carry deep meaning in South Sudanese culture, representing joy, fertility, and protection against evil spirits. While attendance is optional, your presence would make the evening even more special.
Dress Code
Traditional Sudanese attire is welcomed, but if you don’t have it, semi-formal attire is perfectly fine.
Important Note About Henna Application
You don’t have to get henna to attend, but if you do want to get henna, then please arrive with your henna already applied, as it takes hours to dry and won’t be done onsite. You can get henna from any local artist—just search “South Sudan henna” and show them a design you like. Prices typically range from $20 to $60, and henna lasts 1 to 3 weeks.
We’ve listed a few recommended artists based on their portfolios, though we do not personally know or endorse them.
